Vlad Angelov

Founder/PT

My name is Vladislav Angelov, the founder of NoExcuses. I have over 11 years of experience in the fitness industry as a Level 3 and 4 certified personal trainer and sports massage therapist.

I’m from Bulgaria – a small, beautiful country in Europe. I began my professional sports journey at the age of nine, starting out as a football player. My father and my coaches told me I had talent for the game.

However, one of my final coaches said something that stuck with me: “Talent alone is not enough.” That hit hard, and I decided not to waste any more time chasing something that was slipping away. My dream of becoming a professional footballer vanished, but I gained something equally valuable – discipline, practice, and patience.

Frustrated but determined, I turned to wrestling and gym training. I told myself, “If I’m strong enough, nobody can stop me from doing what I want.” Through this path, I learned how to use my body, gain and drop weight, build strength, and perform old-school exercises with proper technique. By the time I turned 18, I had developed a deep understanding of biomechanics – not only from textbooks, but through hands-on practice and wisdom passed down by old-school bodybuilders, powerlifters, and wrestlers. Those were incredible years.

Life demanded more. I needed to work to support myself, and I wasn’t truly a professional athlete. Still, I carried that identity with me – I lived like a professional athlete, and that mindset became part of who I am. At 19, I decided to study finance at university. Around the same time, an incredible opportunity came my way: I became the General Manager of one of the biggest gym facilities in Sofia – Athletic Fitness. There, I managed an amazing team of personal trainers and was exposed to various training methodologies, including kinesiology, strength training, bodybuilding, CrossFit, functional training, and powerlifting.

One of our top trainers, Angel Karaivanov (Bulgaria’s first ADCC world champion), invited me to join his MMA club – Martial Animals. I gave my dream another shot and stepped into the cage. I competed in three tournaments, fighting six matches, and won four of them. But after my last fight, I needed over two weeks to fully recover my speech. That’s when I realised: this wasn’t my future.

As time went on, I found purpose in helping clients lose weight and transform their lives. I graduated from university and committed myself to training people and helping them reach their goals.

Eventually, my wife and I moved to England, where I started working at Virgin Active. Once again, I was lucky to learn from professionals across various fields – without having to spend another 4–5 years in school. Practice is the most powerful teacher. If you don’t believe me, ask any overweight professor in a sports university. I kept learning, reading, testing, analysing – always putting practice first – until I realised that I could help almost anyone lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way. I eventually left Virgin Active to become Head of Personal Training at Lanes Health Clubs. This role came with a new challenge: most members had injuries or limited mobility.

I love challenges, so I dove into my books, studies, and hands-on work. This is where my love for mobility training really flourished. But in the fitness and wellness industry, change is constant. Conditions shift. I made a decision: I didn’t want to keep leaving members behind and starting from scratch each time. It’s too painful. My members had trusted me – shared their goals, opened their lives – and I didn’t want to let them down again.

This is why I created NoExcuses! After years of working in the fitness industry – from football and MMA to managing gyms and coaching clients – I realised people don’t just need workouts. They need support, consistency, and someone who won’t give up on them. NoExcuses was born from that commitment and it is more than a name – it’s a mindset. A promise to help people lose weight, move better, get stronger, and build lasting confidence, no matter where they start.

Because no matter your past, your pain, or how many times you’ve started over – with the right plan and the right coach, there are No Excuses left.
